Show D. A. Skeen Gives Inspirational Inspira-tional Talk to Local Lions D. Ji. Skeen, international director of -Lions-, Clubs, gave a most Inspiring Inspir-ing talk at the local club meeting Thursday. He pointed out how beneficial the Lions, clubs of the nation na-tion are to their many communities and cited the good that comes from the. unselfish work, of the thousands of Lion members, who have joined hands to do the necessary things political, church and other organisations organi-sations cannob. do. He commended the local organization organiza-tion for their work in securing the State Training- school for this district dis-trict and stated that there ai-e many more worth while projects for this and other clubs to follow thru. The program numbers were concluded con-cluded with some splendid violin numbers by Ernest Reimschiissel, accompanied by Miss Lydia Olsen. dub, members discussed the mat-I mat-I ter of fostering a Lions Memorial park at the State Training school. It was decided to go ahead with this project and enlist t&e help of other clubs in the state. The matter was referred to the Major project committee com-mittee consisting of William Chip-man, Chip-man, C. E. Young and Earl Holm-stead. Holm-stead. The matter of widening Main street to eliminate the traffic con-jestion con-jestion was discussed. It was generally gen-erally felt that by moving the curbs back from six to ten feet the highway high-way could be made ample to meet all future needs. This matter was left with a committer com-mitter which is to contact city officials of-ficials and suggest that the city name a committee to contact the State Road commission with the view of interesting the commission in getting this improvement done. Attention was called to the speeding speed-ing traffic thru Main street and a remedy for excessive speeding was discussed. Some members felt that a caution light might help but it seemed the majority favored the "education" of the public thru arrests. |
