Show C. C. CNews Today Camp F-6, Soapstone is completing a novel experiment at Mirror Lake. Foreman J. M. Mac-farlane Mac-farlane has been working a small crew of men at lake fertilization work. A motor equipped raft has been hauling 72 tons of material over approximately 65 acres. Phosphate Phos-phate and lime is mixed with dirt and spread over the lake. The motorized raft has been enjoyed every day since this work started by the crew, w:ho turn 'work into play, as they steadily treat large areas of the lake with the fertilizer. With the fish plants recently brought from Pangwitch and Fish Lakes, the work of improving Mirror . LakQ should prove very satisfactory. Camp Ground development has been progressing under the direction of Foreman Hess. Several new approaches ap-proaches into the grounds have been completed, rocks removed from the roadway entering the area, pipelines pipe-lines drained for winter, toilets cleaned and prepared for winter leaving, and camp ground tables tipped against trees to drain well during storms. The recent change in service limitation limi-tation for CCC enrollees, now enabling enab-ling them to re-enroll except for age ' and marital status, effect 4. 37 enrollees en-rollees of Camp F-6, Soapstone will j be leaving this camp soon for trans-I trans-I fer to Fort Knox where they will be discharged. Row No. 1 emerged victorious in the i-tound Robin Softball Tournament, Tourna-ment, during the latter part of the past week. Millich starred for the losers, driving in their lone run. Karr pitched a tight game during the last final game. The honors along with plenty of candy went to Row No. 1 of tents, the winners. Captain Wilkins and wife from Kentucky have been guests of Camp F-6, Soapstone during the past week. Captain Wilkins is Corbin District Inspector of CCC. -Captain May-field May-field has been introducing the Inspector In-spector to the fine points of a good camp. F-6 feels well supplied with Captains at present having three now in camp. Captain Riley, Dist. Medical Inspector, Capt. Wilkins and Capt. Mayfield. Chaplain Curtis left Camp F-6, Monday morning, September 20, after af-ter spending the night before in Soapstone Camp. It is understood that the Chaplain intends to soon take up civilian life. His many friends at camp here wish him well and grasped his warm handshake at parting. The Chaplain has brought us some very entertaining programs and inspiring sermons, which we have deeply appreciated. We are sure that he will be a success at whatever vocation he pursues. |
