Show Mrs. Eldon Chipman and children returned home Thursday after having hav-ing spent the past ten days visiting Mrs. Chipman's mother in Vernal. Miss Faun Jones of Provo, is visiting in American Fork with her sisters, Mrs. Alex Karren and Mrs. Clyde Birk. On the 24th a canyon party was enjoyed by members of the family, dinner being served to 20 persons. Mrs. John Wing of Provo entertained enter-tained the members of the Feality club and seven special guests at Bromley's Thursday. Four tables of bridge were played the club prize being won by Mrs. Walter Stephens of Salt Lake and the guest prize by Mrs. James Chadwick. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw of Og-den, Og-den, are visiting this week with Mrs. Shaw's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Halliday. Mrs. George F. Halliday and her son, George F. Halliday Jr., of Glendale, California, are also house guests at the Halliday home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Clayton Clay-ton of Midvale, spent Tuesday evening eve-ning in American Fork visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton have just returned from a trip to the east. While in Chicago they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert I Greenwood. They report that Delbert Del-bert and his wife are well and that ! The members of the Contract Bridge club, their partners and several sev-eral special guests gave a surprise party Tuesday evening for Mrs. V. F. Houston. The occasion being Mrs. Houston's birthday. The party was held at the Houston home. The evening was spent playing bridge and after the game a delicious luncheon was served. Those present pres-ent included, Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Briggs, Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Chip-man, Chip-man, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Devey, Mr. and Mrs. David Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Coddington, Mr. and Mrs. I M. L. Baird, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meredith and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Scott. Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Walter Devey and Miss Helen Devey spent the past week in California. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lee and family fam-ily of Colorado, spent Tuesday in American Fork visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Wilde. Grant Brunker of Salt Lake is spending the week in American Fork, visiting with Max Grant, at the Grant home. Mrs. Samuel Grant is planning to spend the next week in Salt Lake City visiting with her sister Mrs. G. N. Brunker. She expects to leave on Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Taylor and children of Garfield, are spending the week at the Samuel Grant home. Kenneth Cropper of Dividend, spent the 24th in American Fork at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ashby. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ashby spent the 24th in Salt Lake City attending attend-ing the Pioneer Day celebration there. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Allen and family spent the 24th holidays in Salt Lake and Midvale, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Garrett. A group of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Alex Karren at their home Friday evening. Games were played and several musical selections enjoyed. en-joyed. A delicious luncheon was served to those present who were, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Birk, Mr. and Mrs. Nile Roberts, Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Osterloh of Salt Lake, and Miss Faun Jones of Provo. Don Erekson, brother of Mrs. Eldon Chipman and Miss Margaret Fisher of Salt Lake, are house guests this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Chipman. Mrs. Warren Anderson, Miss Edith Anderson, Miss Sadie Nelson, and Harold Anderson attended ttie Pioneer Pio-neer Day celebration in Salt Lake on the 24th of July. Warren Anderson and Anson Hatch of Provo, attended the funeral funer-al services in Salt Lake Monday for Mrs. Niel O'Donnell. Mrs. O'Don-nell O'Don-nell was the only licensed woman embalmer in the State of Utah. She passed her examinations and received re-ceived her license to practice In July of this year. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Grant, Max and Dell Grant and Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Lee, spent the 24th and 25th in Salt Lake. While there they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Brunker. ! i I Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McNeill and family spent the holidays in Ogden at the Pioneer Days celebration. While there they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ray George. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur James and baby son of Ely, Nevada, arrived here Tuesday for a short visit with Mrs. James parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Anderson. Mrs. Alma Earl entertained Monday Mon-day evening at the Earl home at a birthday party in honor of Mr. Earl's birthday. A delicious dinner was served to the following guests, Mr. and Mrs. David Condcr, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Barnes and children, and Mr. and Mrs. James Towell and Miss Clara Earl, all of Lehi. Funeral services for Mrs. Clifford Cunningham, who died in Seattle, Washington, a week ago, were held Sunday in Kimball, South Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Demnr Dudley of Jensen, are spending the week in American Fork the guests of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Shelley. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leonhardt and family have moved into an apartment in the T. L. Larson home. Mrs. Leonhardt is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Brandt. Dr. and Mrs. A. G. Brockbank and two sons of Spanish Fork visited Monday in American Fork at the home of Mrs. Lillian Booth. Mrs. Lloyd Carter of Pocatcllo, Idaho, is visiting this week in American Amer-ican Fork with her mother, Mrs. Sadie Bromley. I Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Alt:i Christensen i and Elmo S. Bush, son of Mr. and j Mrs. Frank Bush. They were mar- ried in Salt Lake last week. Thov will make their home in Ely. James wrote his masters thesis and received his degree two years ago from the University of I Utah. In the past two years lie has received two fellowship nt the Michigan University. He is majoring major-ing in Zoology. o . Miss Amy Shelley and Mrs. June S. Wright spent Pioneer Day in Salt Lake City. Miss Marjorie Gaisford has been visiting in Orcm the past week with Mr. and Mrs. David Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shatter and Elmer Shatter of Bingham, spent Sunday in American Fork visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Grant. The M Men and Gleaner Girls of the Fourth ward enjoyed a skating party at the skating rink in Lehi Friday night. About 40 young men and young ladles were present. Af- j ter the skating the young people adjourned ad-journed to the Lehi City park where delicious refreshments were served. The committee in charge of the affair af-fair were Miss Affra McNeill, Miss Lucile Watklns, Sherman Greenwood Green-wood and James rhilllps. |
