Show Funeral Services For Mr. Eskelson At Kamas L Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Kamas ward chapel for Oscar Eskelson, 77 of this city, who died at his home there Saturday following an illness of several months. Mr. Eskelson since the death of his wife in 1913 resided in American Fork with his I daughter, Mrs. Walter Durrant, a greater portion of each year and , made many friends here. The deceased was born near Flor- . ence, Nebraska, April 26, 1852, a son of James and Catherine Eskelson, pioneers who were enroute to Utah, and who settled upon their arrival ' in this state in Kamas, Mr. Eskelson Eskel-son married Miss Melissa Orilla Fraughton of Heber October 26, 1880, and she died in 1913. He filled a mission to the southern states, served serv-ed as bishop's counselor for seven year, was Sunday School superintendent superin-tendent for seventeen years and sup- enntendent of the Y. M. M. I. A. foi j twenty-four years. f Services were opened with a quar-. quar-. tette ' number, "Some Time We'll . Understand", followed by prayer by ' John D. Bradshaw. E. C. Draper rendered a solo and a life sketch was .' read by Miss Edna Reed, a granddaughter. grand-daughter. James T. Gardner, E. J. Seastrand, American Fork; T. A. Atkinson, Orem; P. H. Neeley, Coalville, and , President Jack J. Oblad of Soutn Summit stake were the speakers, all paying high tribute to Mr. Eskelson and family. Two violin duets, a vocal vo-cal duet and a final number by the quartette completed the musical numbers. Wm. P. Richards pronounced pro-nounced the benediction and Joseph H. Smithies dedicated the grave. Surviving are ten sons and daughr ters: Bishop Oscar E. Eskelson, Kamas; Dr. F. G. Eskelson, Vernal; H. I. and George A. Eskelson, Salt Lake City; D. W. Eskelson, Devil's Slide; Mrs. Genevieve Randall, Francis; Mrs. Ella Durrant and Oral J. Eskelson, American Fork; Clea-mond Clea-mond Eskelson, Park City, and Mrs. Sylvia Hayes, Kennilworth; 42 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers, Joseph E-skelson, Salem, Ore.; Ephraim Eskelson, Hepner, Ore., and James and David Eskelson, Vernal. |
