Show Transients Arrested Two transients received sentences of 30 days each in the county jail Friday on charges of petit larceny. The man were picked up on the Alpine Al-pine road early Thursday morning by Night Officer Clyde Chestnut. The loot, which was taken from the Marsh store in Alpine, had been hid near the Rollo Miller home on the road and was recovered by the officer. Mr. Chestnut said he passed the men who were walking- south at the time and becoming suspicious returned re-turned to meet them and gave them a ride. They said they had taken some girls home and were returning to the south part of town where they were staying Telling them the city jail was as good as trees to sleep in they were locked up. Mr. Chestnut and Mr. Cheever from the bakery, returned to where they were first seen and found the bags containing con-taining spices and extracts amounting amount-ing to $15.00. A checkup revealed the fact that the Marsh store at Alpine had been entered and the merchandise taken from there. The two were turned over to the county officials and later given their sentence. |
