Show Happenings at Local II.S. A delicious Thanksgiving dinner was served Wednesday, at noon, to the girls of Miss Smith's Sconce B. Class. The materials for the dinner were furnished by the girls whe . prepared it under the direction of E a Howard and Lola Kirkhnm. Mis. A meeting was held last Tuesday .the 28th by the Girls' Athletic Club .of the Hiah School for the purpose ;of selecting officers. The girls who :were chosen are as follows- Pre.s dent, Helen Devey; Vice-President, I "Valine Hansen; Secretary and Treasurer. Trea-surer. Mary Pulley; Recreational Leader, Vivian Makin. During the me?ting, they began planning for a party to be held in ; the near f tuure. Miss Basinger, the faculty advisor of the club ' announced an-nounced that this club has not been organized for the Physical Education Educa-tion classes, alone, but for all girls of the school. The purpose of the club is to foster true sportsman-' ship. The local chapter of the Future Farmers of America held its regular regu-lar meeting Wednesday, November 29, 1933, in the Agricultural room of the high school. Ralph Spencer, president, made a brief talk in which he summarized the work the chapter would like to accomplish in the corning year. He emphasized empha-sized the points that will contribute contrib-ute to the success of the chapter. After the president's talk there was a group discussion, and the objectives objec-tives for this year were set up as follows: 1. Establish a Thrift Bank with 100 per cent of members with savings' sav-ings' accounts by January 1. 2. Every member to complete all his supervised home practice work. 3. Hold a Fathers and Sons' Banquet Ban-quet in January. 4. Improve the school grounds by sowing grass and planting shrubs and trees. 5. Send a Judging Team to the Ogden Livestock Show in August. Chili was served by the F. F. A. officers in cooperation with the Home Economics Department. Judging from the interest and enthusiasm of the membership, the Future Farmers will put over a real program of work this year. The Dramatic Art department of the high school has received permission per-mission from the Walter H. Baker Co. of Boston, Mass., to produce ; Rachel Crother's well-known play, "Mary The Third." That interest is rapidly growing in this department depart-ment of our local school was made evident by the great number of students participatingg in the try-outs. try-outs. Mary Walton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Walton, has been assigned to play the leading lead-ing role. Following is the complete j list of students awarded places in the cast: Marion Coates, Merma Grant, Mary Adamson, Irene Binns, Bonna Ashby, Fern Anderson, Cran-dall Cran-dall Giddings, Niles Wing, Fred Nielsen, Arthur Gordon, Melvin Brown, Raymond Chadwick, Hugh Clark, and Mac Groesbeck. Judges in the tryouts were Mr. K. J. Bird, Miss Ruth Chipman, and Miss Helen Smith. The play is scheduled to be given giv-en December 14 and 15. The rehearsals, re-hearsals, which are being held daily, give evidence of the fact that the presentation of the play will be carefully worked out in every detail. de-tail. A practice basketball game will be held Friday night at 7:00 p. m. and 8:00 p. m. in the High School Gym. The sophomores of American Fork high school will play the sophomores of Nephi for the first game and then at 8:00 the high school team will play Nephi's team. The general public is invited to attend the games and 25c admission will foe charged. o |
