Show j Ten Years Ago j Now (Taken from Files of Jan. 8, 1927) Ten Years Ago Noj-t On Tuesday the American Fork Oil company unloaded its second carload of gasoline direct from the independent oil fields of California. This local company is equipped to handle this motor fuel in car lots being the only station to do this. Ten Years Ago Now With a view of organizing a tabernacle tab-ernacle choir composed of musicians and singers from the four wards of this city, letters were sent out this week by James H. Clarke and Abel J John Evans, of the stake presidency, to a number of persons in the city asking them to join the organization organiza-tion and lend their supijort to make it a success. K. J. Bird, stake chorister, chor-ister, has signified his willingness to take the leadership of the choir. Attention was called to the fact that with the talent there Is in this city in the musical line, with the support of K. J. Bird and the splendid splen-did organ and piano for accompaniment accompan-iment it should not be difficult to have a very successful choir. Ten Years Ago Now Dr. F. D. Worlton of Lehi was reelected re-elected president of the school board of the Alpine district at the meeting meet-ing of the school board Tuesday afternoon. af-ternoon. Dr. Worl ton's term as president will be for two years and he was chosen unanimously. There were present at the meeting all board members, Dr. Worlton of Lehi, Le-hi, and Dr. O. E. Grua of Pleasant Grove, holdovers, J. N. Anderson of Provo Bench, James H. Clarke of American Fork and James B. Smith of Alpine, newly elected members. Ten Years Ago Now Miss Doris Cunningham was successful suc-cessful in securing a position in tho county court house this week to fill the vacancy made by the resignation resigna-tion of Miss Mada Shelley, who left on a mission. Miss Cunningham reported for work Thursday morning. morn-ing. Ten Years Ago Now Orville Mercer resumed his work at the Utah Power and Light Co. Thursday, after an absence of two months occasioned by an injury which he received November Gth. Mr. Mercer's left eye was pierced by a nail and he has been under a physicivin's care since. The injured in-jured optic is not entirely well but will permit him to resume his work. |
