Show Local Firemen Honored at State Convention Three prominent positions in the State Firemen's organization were awarded to American Fork men at the election of officers for the coming com-ing year at the convention held in Heber last Friday. Fire Chief I. L. Pratt was elected state organizer and he will also retain his calling as chaplain of the 'association. Glen Chadwick was reelected sergeant-at-' arms. The local department held the honor of being the only department hi attendance with 100 per cent membership present at the meet and participating in the parade given on Saturday. This was made possible by the splendid cooperation of the old members of the department who stood in readiness to protect property should a fire occur during the time the regular men were away. Mr. Pratt states that they received some very valuable Information that will benefit them in their work. The demonstrations of the various new equipment units which are available was well worth the time spent at the convenUon. One item demonstrated was the latest type of fire extinguisher, extinguish-er, employing carbon dioxide gas, and the airline masks. This was shown under the direction of Battalion Bat-talion Chief J. K. Pircey of Salt Lake City. The American Fork Ladies Auxiliary Auxili-ary to the firemen were represented at tlie convention of the Auxiliary held in connection with the state convention. Mrs. Vera Thompson, Mrs. I. L. Pratt, Mrs. Vera Jacklin, Mrs. Florence Pratt, Mrs. Olive Briggs, Mrs. Lorena Pratt and Mrs. Velda Shumway attended the social held at the Hot Pots in Midway. The Ladies Auxiliary have members in the state organization and will continue to send their representa- tives to the state functions. |
