Show Obituaries Inward G. Warnick Ira L. Holmstead Ira L. Holmstead, 87. died Wednesday, April 26, 1989. He had been a resident of Albuquerque, N.M. since 1953. He was born July 9, 1901, a son of Oscar Lawrence and Ida Darling Holmstead. He married Elizabeth May Ford. She died Jan. 15, 1966. He belonged to the Roswell Masonic Lodge 18 and the Scottish Rite and the York Rite in Roswell and Albuquerque, as well as Ballut Abyad Shrine and the director's staff and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a past president of the Caravan Club and belonged to the Telephone Pioneers. He was a "legend in his own time." to quote a colleague. After 44 years with Mountain Bell, he retired in 1966. Survivors include his daughter, Mary, and her husband. Robert E. DeKinder, Jr.; a granddaughter, Eliza beth, and grandson. Robert, all of Albuquerque; a brother, Boyd Holmstead, Holm-stead, Lehi. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Barbara. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May :!, at 2 p.m. in the Lehi City Cemetery, where interment will take place. He had served as a Temple Worker in the Provo Temple. He also served on the Stake Aaronic Priesthood committee and in many Kenneth E. Bean Kenneth Erwin Bean, 66, of Pleasant Grove died April 28, 1989 in Pleasant Grove. He was born May 13, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri to David and Ida Weinberg Bean. He married Audrey Jane Saunders in 1952. They were later divorced. He spent most of his life in the St. Louis area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2. He had been employed em-ployed as a civil service worker for the Federal Government. He is survived by a son Gary S. Bean, Pleasant Grove; six grandchildren; two sis ters: Mildred Slattery, Hazelwood, Mo.; Berniece Kercher, Phoenix, Ariz. Graveside services were Tuesday, May 2, at noon at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where full military rites were performed by Dist. 4 of the Veterans Veter-ans of Foreign Wars. Raisa W. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Grandview 1st Ward, 1350 West 1550 North, Provo. Friends may call at Olpin Family Fam-ily Mortuary, 500 South at 300 East, Pleasant Grove Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Thursday at the Church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Delbert P. Hoglund, Lehi, 58, died May 2, 1989 in the Salt Lake V.A. Hospital following heart surgery. He was born Feb. 15, 1931 in Salt Lake City, the son of Joseph Wilford and Catherine Sophia Park Hoglund. He married Betty Joe Abshier Dec. 12, 1955 in Norman, Okla. He was a retired Lt. Commander after serving 27 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, member of the Disabled Veterans. While" serving in the Navy, he received numerous recruiting awards and was especially proud of being in charge of the Navy's jungle survial school in both the Philippines and San Diego, Calif. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and an avid golfer. He was active in high school athletics and later coaching and officiating athletics in California and Colorado. He is survived by his wife of Lehi; a son, Jerry D. Hoglund, Houston, Tex.; two daughters: Rita G. Alesandrini, Niskayu-; Niskayu-; na, N. Y. ; Karen Joe Lei, Lehi; 11 grandchildren; grand-children; mother, American Fork; two brothers: Bill W. Hoglund, Pleasant Grove; Boyd Hoglund, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Marilyn) Hansen, American Fork. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in the Anderson An-derson and Sons Mortuary Chapel, 49 E. 100 North, American Fork, where friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the American Fork City Cemetery with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars, District 4. Idaho, for a short period pe-riod of time as a child, returning to Provo at the age of 6, where she has lived since, attending attend-ing Brigham Young Academy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother grand-mother and loved outdoor out-door activities with her husband and family. She is survived by three sons and two |
