Dancer practices for production of "Coppelia." Regional Ballet prepares for 'Coppelia' Fri. & Sat. Utah Regional Ballet is making preparations for a new Fall Season featuring "Coppelia," a romantic tomedy performed in classical ball-et style. 'Coppelia" is one of Utah audie-nces favorites. The three act prom-otion boasts a fine cast of tal-- i ented Guest Artists to augment the exceptionally talented young company. Jiang Qui, presently principal Jancer with Ballet West, formerly of Joffrey Ballet and the Central Dance Company of Chine, will perform the leading role of Franz. Joining Qi will be Michael On-sta- d, former Principal with Ballet West, to play the character role of Dr. Coppelius. Onstad has received wide acclaim for his interpretation of this role. "These fine artists will add a great deal to our production, as well as give our company the op-portunity to work with profession-als in the field of ballet. We are very fortunate to have them," states Jacqueline Colledge, artistic direc-tor of the company. Performances will be held Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Timpview High School Theatre. VCP schedules auditions for 'Rented Christmas' Auditions will be held at Center Valley Playhouse, 780N.200East, Lindon, Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for "The Rented Christmas." Performances will be held Fri-day, Saturday and Monday during December. The "Rented Christmas" is a well known and very tender story of a wealthy bachelor, who rents a Christmas complete with presents, tree, kids, and a wife. Characters needed ar four women (33 to 60), three men (38 to 60), three boys (7-- 1 7), and two girls ( 12-16- ). COLI.KIHJK - ARTISTIC L Ivhii Design I Single adults plan fireside The North Region single adult fireside will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the American Fork West IDS Stake Center, 165 North 350 West, American Fork. Elray Pedersen, an English professor at Brigham Young Uni versity, will be the speaker. Pedersen instructs and assigns all student teachers in the Western United States, and students say he is an inspiring teacher. All single adults in the North Region are invited. Nutcracker' auditions set Fri. Utah Regional Ballet, under the direction of Jacqueline P. Colledge, fill be holding open auditions for their annual production of the "Nutcracker." This marks the sixth year for this Christmas tradition in Utah County. Performance dates are set for Dec. 19-2- 3 in deJong Concert HallatBYU. Girls interested must be at least eight years of age with one year training and four feet to five feet tall. Girls over five feet will be expected to audition on Pointe. Boys and young men must be at least eight years of age. v,.x. All those auditioning must pre- - register by calling the ballet studio at 756-809- 1 before Oct. 6. Retarded Citizens to hold bazaar The Association for Retarded Citizens Utah County North will holding their annual fund Oct. 28, at the Ameri-- m Fork Senior Citizen Center, 54 E.Main. There will be a bakery, candy, Holiday decorations, kitchen, baby, potpourri, and booths. There will be a grand prize draw-ingf-a Snowboard, an overnight at the Red Lion Hotel, a 20" mountain bike, and a quilt. Tickets maybe purchased at the bazaar or call Anne Clyde at 756-700- 7 or Kay Beck at 756-855- Every hour there will be draw-ings for gift certificates and mer-chandise from the local merchants. The proceeds from the bazaar go to support Kids on the Move (pre-school), Tim Industries (workshop), Respite Care, Recreation for Adult Handicapped, and the Dan Peter-son School.
