Show Review - Wednesday, October 4, 1989 - Page 3 I " " District to hold makeup day Nov. 22 lhe Alpine bchool District will hold school on Wednesday, Nov. 22, to make up for the day lost when schools were closed because of the teacher strike. School officials said Nov. 22, the day before the traditional Thanksgiving holiday is to begin, was originally scheduled as a teacher compensation day time off to compensate teachers for time spent in evening parent-teache- r sessions. The decision on the makeup day was made dur-ing the board's public input sessions held at Tuesday Greenwood Elementary School in American Fork. Blake Evans, a member of the school, in placing the item on the agenda of the meeting, said, "It was necessary to close the schools the day of the strike in order to insure the safety and well-bein- g of the students. "While we could apply to the state for an exemp-tion from the 180 school day requirement, we feel it necessary to hold school the required 180 days." Dr. Steven Baugh, district superintendent, also encouraged the board to make up the lost day. "Kids need that day of school," he said. "We want the best possible education for our students and that means that every day is important." fP( , " " ' 4 t ,',' " V t. j- . . He likes to glue and paint rocks. He has given away many of them. He has made turtles, owls, many different dogs, frogs and burro's. Each winter the Radmalls, Reed and Phyllis, pack up in their fifth wheel and head south. They go to different places but spend a lot of time at a campground in Burro Creek, Arizona. While in Burro he spends most of his time making rock characters and he made up a burro for his camp host. There are many wild burros in the area. One time he made a box kite at his campsite and flew it. He enjoys life and has fun with all his proj-ects. The Radmalls have been trav-eling south for the past four years shortly after Christmas. Muzzle loading has been a main interest and hobby in the Radmall home. Reed said his wife is a good, shot with the muzzleloader. He used to be a millwright at Geneva. The Radmalls are the parents of a son and a daughter.
