Show Jazz and Pacers are tied in league In the seventh-eighth grade Jr. Jazz headline game of the day, Ryan Thomas of the Knicks duelled Robbie Mayo of the Celtics as they each carried the offensive load for their respective teams and battled for a share of second place in the league. Mayo with 14 points scored two more than Thomas who had 12, however, the Knicks picked up the slack for a slender 29-24 win. The Jazz and Pacers continued their undefeated trail for first place as they both used to rid scoring and tight defense to stifle opponents last Saturday. The Jazz, led by Erik Jacklin with 23, was almost a one-man one-man wrecking crew as he outscored the entire Suns team. His offensive effort was one of the top for the year. The Pacers in their win over the Lakers were led by Scott Giles and Travis Ewell with 14 points each. In another game, which saw the Bulls hold on to a second-place tie with the Knicks, Tracy Smith scored 22 points for the Bulls as he led them to their fourth victory in five outings. The highlight game of this Saturday's schedule will see the Bulls and Knicks battle it out for second place, while the following week will see the Jazz and Pacers lock up what could prove to be game of the year. It was announced that Pleasant Grove will have five tournament spots in the District Tournament to be held in Lehi the latter part of March. With that many spots open, the league and post-season tournament tour-nament will hold a lot of opportunity for those teams having a slow start to come on strong at the end of season play. The Tournament slots will be awarded to the top five finishers from the post-season league tournament to be held the third week of March.
