Mayo with 14 points scored two more than Thomas who had 12, however, the Knicks picked up the slack for a slender 29-2- 4 win. The Jazz and Pacers continued their undefeated trail for first place as they both used to rid scoring and tight defense to stifle opponents last Saturday. The Jazz, led by Erik Jacklin with 23, was almost a one-ma- n wrecking crew as he outscored the entire Suns team. His offensive effort was one of the top for the year. The Pacers in their win over the Lakers were led by Scott Giles and Travis Ewell with 14 points each. In another game, which saw the Bulls hold on to a second-plac- e tie with the Knicks, Tracy Smith scored 22 points for the Bulls as he led them to their fourth victory in five outings. The highlight game of this Saturday's schedule will see the Bulls and Knicks battle it out for second place, while the following week will see the Jazz and Pacers lock up what could prove to be game of the year. It was announced that Pleasant Grove will have five tournament spots in the District Tournament to be held in Lehi the latter part of March. With that many spots open, the league and post-seaso- n tour-nament will hold a lot of opportunity for those teams having a slow start to come on strong at the end of season play. The Tournament slots will be awarded to the top five finishers from the post-seaso- n league tournament to be held the third week of March. ' f I Estrogens - Good News ' Estrogen therapy is accepted as one of the most effective methods of minimizing loss of bone mass in women who are at risk of developing osteoporosis, When women reach menopause or undergo surgical removal of the ovaries (where natural estrogen is produced), replacement estrogen therapy is often prescribed. There are other less common uses for estrogens, such as for cycle regulation, atopic vaginitis and ovarian failure. A piece of "good news" about estrogens was reported recently in connection with the Lipid Research Clinics Prevalence Study. A 30 percent reduction in heart-relate- d deaths was ob served among middle-ag- e women who took estrogen (for purposes) in comparison to women who were not taking estrogen. Researchers conducting the study believe that the reduced risk of heart-relate- d deaths was due primarily to the elevation of HDL (high density lipoprotein) cholesterol stimulated by the estrogen. HDL is the "good cholesterol," a protein that removes LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol or "bad cholesterol" and keeps LDL cholesterol from depositing in the smaller blood vessels of the body.
