Wanda received the dress for her sixth grade graduation. She and her step-siste- Joy Atkin celebrated birthdays just six days apart and wefe known as the Hall twins. The girls each received a peach taffeta dress with ruffles to wear at the St. George Elementary Graduation. The girls lived in nearby Washington where Great-grandm- a Cuba Lyle still resides. Mrs. Lyle saved Wanda's favorite dress, most clothes were passed on to cousins so Wanda was delighted to see her Mom hung on to this one. She was excited to share her favorite dress with her only granddaughter. Now Natalie is wearing a dress with a memory and she intends to put it away and pass it on also. Natalie is nine years old and the daughter of Craig and Susan Chestnut in American Fork. Wanda McDonald and step-sist- er Joy Atkins model identical peach taffeta dresses for their sixth grade graduation. Wanda's granddaughter, Natalie Chestnut (adjoining photo), wears the same dress and plans to save it for her daughter someday. Grow your own hair bach! 100 Money Refund ; , if not Satisfied! Blue Crystals to give away dolls and quilt in fundraiser The awara winning dance teams ' of the Blue Crystals are working hard to raise funds to travel to the DMA National competition in North Carolina. As part of their fundraising act-ivities they will giveaway three 20 inch handmade upside-dow- n dolls and a king size quilt. The corps members are selling tickets at $1 each for the quilt and 50 cents each for the dolls. The items are on display at Craft, 43 S. Main, Pleasant Grove. Tickets are available at Craft or from any student in the Blue Crystal Dance or Flag Teams. The dolls are really two dolls in one. Just flip the doll over and another can be seen. The dolls have their origin in the southern mountains and are beautiful examples of the Carolinas mountain crafts. The design of the dolls came about as an economical measure for the Appalachian Mountain children. Many residents ot tne mountains did not have money to buy their children fancy toys and dolls at Christmastime. They saved their scraps and since there were usually not enough scraps of the same pattern to make one doll, the mothers lovingly designed a e doll which they called upside-dow- n dolls. The dolls are more popular today than ever before. The three dolls for the Blue Crystals fundraiser were handmade by the director, Florence Adams, who is also a doll collector and over the years she has made a number of upside-dow- n dolls. The dolls for the fundraiser will be Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat. Where Have You Been?, Old Mother Hubbard, and Little Bo Peep: The drawing will be held on Saturday, May 7, in Orem at 4 p.m. The Blue Crystals will be per-forming that same day at at 12:30 p.m. If there are any questions, contact Mrs. Adams at 785-101- Wilcox named FFA president On Wednesday, April 20, the Pleasant Grove FFA Chapter held a chapter meeting and elected next year's officers for the 1988-8- 9 school year.
