Show Jim Starr selected for nrestigious internship J The Alpine School District and the ', ryU Leaders Preparation Program ' ,1 pp) have announced the selec-. selec-. inn of Jim Starr, Social Studies Wrtment chair from Pleasant Trove High School, to participate in 'The nation's most outstanding !D"incipal preparation program. I Mr Starr will take a one year Lve from his teaching duties at Pleasant Grove High School. The Leader's Preparation 'orogram is a partnership between nyu and Utah public schools and L been set up to train school nrincipals- Annually, 15 top teachers in the State are selected to enter the program. It is the only nreservice training program in the US to receive a grant from the Department of Education, preservice means that teachers, not 'administrators, are trained to become principals. Mr Starr, last year's Alpine School District "Teacher of the Year," is looking forward to a full !( year of classwork and training. The LPP program is a full year program, beginning in June and ending in June of the following year; Principal-interns receive a jter of Education in Educational Leadership and a Utah Administrative Ad-ministrative Certificate at the s) conclusion of the program. J During the school year Mr. Starr I wj spend four days per week in Jim Starr schools as an administrative intern under the supervision of outstanding out-standing principals around the state, and will function as an administrator, ad-ministrator, observing, assisting, and actually being a school administrator. ad-ministrator.
