Show Arbor Day ceremony to honor Fave Belliston of Garden Club By KALYN SECRETAN Pleasant Grove is known for its trees, and in keeping with its yearly tradition, the Pleasant Grove Garden Club will plant another tree on Arbor Day, April 29, at 6 p.m. at the Battlecreek Park. In a special ceremony, the tree will be planted and dedicated to Faye Belliston who will be honored at the event. The Garden Club is breaking part of their tradition by naming the recipient in advvance and holding the ceremony during the evening. The past few years, the early morning has been cold for participants to stand for a time and enjoy the event. J. Sterling Morton of Nebraska was the founder of Arbor Day. Recognizing the value of a tree, he taught how they enrich the soil and keep the moisture in the ground. Last year a Mountain Ash was planted in honor of Alice Adamson and the family of Harold Ar-mitstead Ar-mitstead planted a Crimson Red in his honor. A beautiful plaque was presented by Bill Hoglund with the names of all who have had trees planted in their honor. Friends and relatives of Mrs. Belliston are encouraged to come and join in the Arbor Day Tribute. |
