Show I ( Vikings roll over Uintah for Reeion Eteht win ' Pleasant Grove raced to a 27-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat i uintah 34-3 Thursday David Flinders broke back ,eainst the flow on an option play to o 35 yards for the first VikinS 1 Lre Flinders went down the line I to the left side, faked the pitch and cut back across the field to the endzone. The Viking quarterback Mssed 19 times, completed 11 for J 5s5 yards and one touchdown. 1 ge Watkins kicked the first of four extra points for a 7-0 PG lead. The Viking defense led by Darrin Henry and Marlow Robinson picked 0f four Uintah passes. Henry had four tackles and six assists plus an interception while Robinson had , five tackles and two assists. Robinson returned to action following a pulled muscle injury that has kept him out of action for several days. Todd Mosher had two interceptions in-terceptions plus a five yard touchdown run to put the Vikes up Z7-0 at halftime. Mosher followed blocks around the left end and made "t a great cut at the four yardline and then dove into the endzone, just t. missing the pylon. C PG's second score came on a f power I run over Lee Williams at 2 right tackle with Justin Johnston p. carrying the ball. David Flinders cuts back on the way to a 35-yard touchdown run in 34-3 win over Uintah Thursday. The Vikes play at Pineview tonight and host Provo Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. No. 72 is Chuck Chidester. Flinders then connected with Todd Veenker over the middle for a 37 yard scoring pass. Veenker, a Viking split end, took the quick slant and cut to the far sideline in going into the endzone. Watkins opened the second half by using excellent blocks up the sideline in front of the PG bench to go 82 yards to score on the kickoff. While still trying to catch his breath, Watkins kicked the extra point for a 34-0 PG lead with just : 12 seconds gone off the game clock in the third period. Coach Bill Mickelson then played everyone and the Vikes allowed Uintah only a 36 yard field goal for the game. Darren Livingston made an over the shoulder interception oi a Ute pass late in the game to end a Uintah scoring threat. The Vikes had 15 first downs to a 9 for the Utes. PG plays Pineview in St. George tonight and will host Provo October 15. That's another Thursday night game to stay away from the Deer Hunt migration on Friday night. |
