The Viking quarterback Mssed 19 times, completed 11 for J 5s5 yards and one touchdown. 1 ge Watkins kicked the first of four extra points for a 0 PG lead. The Viking defense led by Darrin Henry and Marlow Robinson picked 0f four Uintah passes. Henry had four tackles and six assists plus an interception while Robinson had tackles and two assists. , five Robinson returned to action following a pulled muscle injury that has kept him out of action for several days. Todd Mosher had two int-erceptions plus a five yard touchdown run to put the Vikes up at halftime. Mosher followed blocks around the left end and made "t a great cut at the four yardline and then dove into the endzone, just t. missing the pylon. C PG's second score came on a f power I run over Lee Williams at 2 right tackle with Justin Johnston p. carrying the ball. David Flinders cuts back on the way to a 35-ya- rd touchdown run in 34-- 3 win over Uintah Thursday. The Vikes play at Pineview tonight and host Provo Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. No. 72 is Chuck Chidester. Flinders then connected with Todd Veenker over the middle for a 37 yard scoring pass. Veenker, a Viking split end, took the quick slant and cut to the far sideline in going into the endzone. Watkins opened the second half by using excellent blocks up the sideline in front of the PG bench to go 82 yards to score on the kickoff. While still trying to catch his breath, Watkins kicked the extra point for a 34-- 0 PG lead with just : 12 seconds gone off the game clock in the third period. Coach Bill Mickelson then played everyone and the Vikes allowed Uintah only a 36 yard field goal for the game. Darren Livingston made an over the shoulder interception oi a Ute pass late in the game to end a Uintah scoring threat. The Vikes had 15 first downs to a 9 for the Utes. Grand 16.0 Resident big game hunting license sales to end Oct. 16 Beginning this year, Utah resident big game hunters must purchase big game or combination licenses by midnight, October 16. The decision to suspend license sales during the general season deer hunt came as a result of ex-cessive abuses of the old licensing proceduring, which encouraged unethical hunters to "party hunt." Party hunters sometimes kill several deer during the season, then ask friends or relatives to buy licenses so the deer can be tagged. With no license sales during the season, these people will be less likely to break the law. l Unusual choice yields yards to sophs, as they bamboozle Uintah in outing jp "Where did these coaches get this K; idea?", said Jack Hill, a sophomore coach at Pleasant Grove. "V Hill was referring to the fact that in the last three sophomore games, the opponents have won the pre-gam- e coin toss and have elected to l "kick". By making that choice, instead of deferring, has meant that PG has received the kickoff both halves of all three games . At Uintah Wednesday, the first drive did not result in a score but with the young Vikes on defense, Craig Veenker deflected a pass that Kelly Wilkinson caught and returned 10 yards to the Uintah 40. i ' later, Matt Bulkley" ' P3!??? 35 lal"ds to Clark Harris for six points and Quint Chipman's extra point kick made it The ' second period was two minutes old when Nathan Tatom took a pitch from Jug Jacklin and lofted a long pass down the sideline to Ryan VanWagoner. spectacular catch at the two, set up the second PG touch-down with fullback, Chris Goodwin, going over for the score. Chipman again kicked the point after making it 14-- On the kickoff, Chipman boomed the ball inside the five and on the second Ute play, a pass in the flat was picked off by Tatom and he raced 25 yards untouched for the score. ' ' "" - Veenker, who had a good game defensively, picked off another Ute pass to set up a 10 yard run by Justin Humble around the left end to make the score 28-- 0 just before the half. Uintah was forced to kick to start the second half due to their choice to start the game and with Jacklin calling the plays, PG drove 65 yards for the final PG touch-down. Chad Jacob gained 40 yards in six carries during the drive including the touchdown dive from two yards out. With the Vikes leading 34-- Uintah scored on a 40 yard pass play late in the game. - The; soph's play af Provo, Wed-nesday, October 14, at 4 p.m. h Old Fashion Service in fashion Selection ! Shop PI.
