Show Gagons drops Christensens in close one The Pleasant Grove Parks and Recreation Women's basketball league has really seen some great games this season, but none closer and with a surprising win than this last week's game between Gagon Plumbing and Christensen's. ' Gagon's led the entire game, with as much as a 13 point lead, and then Christensen's suddenly broke open with some great moves. Julie Montgomery's team, with even scoring from all of her making 11. Gwen Cunico made 9 points for Beatty, with Barbara Ricks making 8. Two very evenly matched teams, Christensen's and Gagon Plumbing, played against each other for the first time this season. As mentioned, men-tioned, Gagon's led for-the entire game, then, in the fourth quarter, Christensen's pulled ahead, winning the game by just one bucket, 44 to 42. Lani's team A suffered from cold shooting, with A only three of her players getting into the scoring column. Camille Larsen made 14 points for Lani. Shelley Ashby made 14 points for Montgomery's, with Kathy Brereton making 13. In the second game of the evening, Kathy Denton's team barely squeaked past Shelley Beatty's team, 39 to 36. Beatty's cold shooting in the first quarter made them play catch-up in the second and third quarters. Beatty's played strong defense, particularly on Julie Shalappi, holding her to no J points in the third and fourth quarters. High scorer was Denton with 12 points, with Shalappi making 9 and Jenny Wells making 6. Neresa Neilson led all scorers with 14 points, with Marie Bone making 8 and Tammy Snow and Cherylnn Johnson making 6. The last game of the evening saw Jennie Hansen's team run past Beth Boeshan's team in the first quarter and never look back for the rest of the game. Hansen's had even scoring with Jennie making 22 points and Trudy Sanderson making 17. Laree made 14 points for Boeshan's, with Leslie making 8. More games will be held at the Community Center on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and see the games, and enjoy some great entertainment. |
