Show Review - Wednesday, March 4, 1987 - Page 8 Vikings of the Month named for Feb. i 2i If ' fW Ky Lee maintains a 3.7 gpa. Heidi is the daughter of A. LaMont and Lula Marie Henriksen. She has a 3.99 gpa. Heidi is a member of FBLA and plans to attend college. She is a member of the drill team and helped play for the chorus at Pleasant Grove Junior High and helps play for the mixed chorus this year at PGHS. She is the ward organist in the Lindon Fourth Ward and has been a class president and secretary in the Young Women's program in her ward. Heidi likes to read good books, especially science fiction, swim, dance, listen to the radio and sew. Darrin is the son of Darold and Belle Henry. He has always been a sports "nut," participating in football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, golf and swimming. His favorite sport is baseball. He likes to collect baseball cards and now that the wrestling season is over, his mosts favorite pasttime is eating, and eating and eating. Darrin has won many honors through his sports participation, but the greatest came recently when he took first at the state 3A wrestling tournament. Darrin has been an honor student since he began the seventh grade. Vikings of the Month for February at Pleasant Grove High School are seniors Kim Johnson and Cary Secretan, juniors Brandon Martin and Ky Lee Young, and sophomores Heidi Henriksen and Darrin Henry. Kim is the daughter of Percy and Clara Johnson. She is studentbody secretary. She loves music and is in the A Cappella Choir and has been her ward's organist and choir pianist for the past four years. Kim is Laurel president in her ward. She represented Pleasant Grove at Girls State last June and is on Sen. Orrin Hatch's Youth Ad-visory Committee. She was recently honored by being included in "Who's Who Among American High School Students". She enjoys interior decorating, singing, playing the piano, drama, sewing, cooking, skiing, snowmobiling and reading. She is the Homemaking Sterling Scholar candidate from PGHS. She plans to atend Ricks or Utah State University on a scholarship and is considering Interior Decorating as a career. Cary is the son of Robert and Kalyn Secretan. He loves sports, especially baseball and basketball. He has participated in many school dances as Sweater King or Preferred Man or Sweatheart couple. He loves to hunt and fish and has traveled with his family to Canada several times to visit relatives. He spent last summer and until Christmas working for Alpine Upholstery and suprised his folks by recovering a rocking chair and making a wood box and also covering seats for the fireplace. Cary's favorite food is pizza and deep-frie- d shrimp. He has not decided where he will complete his education. Brandon is the son of Lane and Juliet Martin. He enjoys golf, tennis, basketball, softball and skiing. He enjoys people and a good practical joke. He participated in the region golf tournament for PGHS, too. He likes photography and has won some awards in this area. His favorite pasttime is arguing with his brother, Chad, about who gets to wear what and who is responsible for the spot on a favorite sweater. He claims to barely tolerate animals but has been caught on more than one occasion snuggling the family cat on his lap as he does homework. A complex young man, he has one great, dark secret - he knows how to play "Praise to The Man" on the piano. Ky Lee is the daughter of Dell and Vicki Young. She has been a cheerleader for the past four years, an FHA officer, Junior Class president, a member of the ballroom dance team, a member of the National Honor Society and is listed in "Who's Who in American High School Students." She is an All American Academic for Cheerheaders and Academic Leadership for High Schools. She has been nominated to participate in a six week FHA exchange program with Japan for this coming summer. Back, Brandon tl Traci Mills sparkles for swim team ; This year the swimming and diving team represented the school very well. Cindy Ellis started of the region meet with a great per-formance on the diving board. She placed third breaking the old school record with a score of 243. The next day was the swimming meet and the girls did well. Tracie Mills again dropped her 50 and 100 freestyle. Kim Lamoreaux qualified in the 200 and 100 freestyle to swim at state. The girls 400 freestyle relay team composed of Kim Lamoreaux, Radawn Oscarson, Lisa Mattinson and Tracie Mills also qualified for the state meet. The state meet was held last Friday and Saturday at BYU. Tracie Mills was the highlight of the team. She went into the state championships ranked 13th in both the 50 and 100. She exploded during the prelims and came back for the finals. During the finals she placed fourth in both her 50 freestyle with a time of 26.40. This broke her own school record by more than a second. On Saturday the same thing happened in the loo freestyle p did well in the prelims, came'k for the finals and got anotherfo! S place medal. She became the t girl in Pleasant Grove's histor;. t break the one minute mark in'fc nc 100 free. She swam a 58.07. Kim Lamoreaux also did wfr tl the 200 and 100 free. L Gr Ha Chi SWI Local student receives M.A. Boston University awarded academic degrees to 895 students this winter. Among the graduates was Pleasant Grove resident Dian E. Saderup who received a MA in Creative Writing. Boston University is the fourth largest independent university in the U.S., with an enrollment of more than 27,000 students in its 16 schools and colleges.
