Show Two teams tie for first in women's leagj As the first half of the Women's Fastpitch League draws to a close, the field is tight. In last week's action, Top Ten Flyers beat Lar-sen's Lar-sen's handily, 15-2. Racquel Scott was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits. Racquel also led offensive play with three singles and Lisa Hall added two singles and a double. Mecca Supply beat Goodtime Rentals, 12-2 and La Casa downed the Rebels 15-9. Jennifer Schlappi and Julie Wilde led the Rebels in hitting with two singles each. Bromleys had a tough time at the beginning of the season, but as the games roll by, they are falling into a rhythm of winning. Last week, behind the pitching of Dana (Tolman) Kitchen, they beat Tunex 7-1. Dana and Chris Tea led the team offensively. Kristen Sonju of Tunex hit a homerun for their only score. The Top Ten Flyers beat the Rebels by a score of 13-2. The Flyers were able to take advantage of a number of walks and errors. Val Nickel gave up only four hits in the losing effort. Lisa Hall led the Flyers with two doubles. Haw's Floral downed Goodtime Rentals 12-8. Becky White led Haw's, hitting three for four, and pitching for the win. Goodtime Rentals was unable to mount a convincing offensive surge despite balanced hitting and good defensive play. Mecca Supply held on to beat Bromley's in eight innings. The competition was keen and both teams were well matched. The game was tied most of the game until the bottom of the eighth inning when third baseman Astin got on with a single and advanced to home via errors. Bromley's Dana Kitchen allowed only four hits in the loss. The La Casa Stars out-lasted finale. Kathy Dahl had I A standing game, pitching fn? and chalking up a homerun in the victory S Vincent was instrumental ' win, adding a single and a Jewell Je-well as two RBIs.
