Three separate assemblies were held in honor of the seventh, eighth and ninth grade students. Teachers gave recognition and special awards in science, math, athletics and all areas of study. The PTA presented all students who achieved the high honor roll for one or more quarters with a cer-tificate. All students making the high honor roll for three quarters received a framed certificate. Dad's favorite recipes set for Sunday By KALYN SPXRETAN As Father's Day approaches it is time to serve some of Dad's favorite foods. The third Sunday in June is observed as a day to honor fathers all over the country. The ob-servance was started in 1910 by Mrs. John Bruce Dodd of Spokane, Wash. Let your imagination be your guide in planning tho table to recognize Dad's hobbies and serve his favorite food. Barbequed steak is a favorite among .many fathers, for others it could be fish, chicken or turkey. Sheela Matthia shared a favorite Oven Barbequed Chicken recipe at a ward supper recently. It is easy to prepare and delicious to taste. Oven Barbequed Chicken Place chicken upside down in a dripper pan and pour sauce over the meat. Sauce 1 cup water 'a cup brown sugar Vs cup vinegar Vb cup diced onion Sprinkle of garlic salt, if desired Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Turn chicken oyer and bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Scalloped Potatoes Cook 2 large potatoes and grate in a 9x13 pan. Melt 1 square margarine; add 1 can Cream of Chicken soup, 1 cup evaporated milk, 1 cup sour cream, l'i cups grated cheese. Mix together and pour over the grated potatoes. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until sauce is bubbly. Peach Jello Prepare one large package of Peach Jello using 3 cups of water. - When slightly set, whip with an 8 ounce container of Cool Whip. Add peaches or serve plain. Dessert Crust: 1 cup flour 1 square butter or margarine V--i cup nuts (optional) Press in a 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Cool. .Mix:, 1 cup powdered sugar 1 8 oz. package cream cheese Add: 1 9 oz. container Le Creme Dairy Topping (or Cool Whip) spread over cooled crust. Mix: 1 pkg. vanilla instant pudding 1 pkg chocolate instant pudding 3 cups cold milk Spread over Cool Whip mixture. Top with additional dairy topping and grated Hershey Bar.
