Show Strawberry Days qeeeii contestants highlighted Teresa has received recognition as an Honor Student and is listed in Who's Who in America. She has involved herself in student government and is currently Vice President for her senior class. She has held various leadership positions in many capacities. She has been a cheerleader for four years and also a member of the school drill team. Teresa enjoys skiing and is a member of the ski club. She is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. Teresa was an attendant in the 1984 Homecoming Pageant for Pleasant Grove High School. Outside of school Teresa has served in several positions in the LDS Church. Teresa plans on furthering her education at Steven Henegar's Business College and training in the field of Administrative Business. She has had special training in gymnastics and has won several competitions and awards. Teresa enjoys the challenges that life has to offer her, and wishes to excel in all areas that she meets along the way. Editor's Note: This is the third in a series of articles spotlighting the girls who are contestants for the Strawberry Days Scholarship Pageant. Ellen Lloyd, Karen Harmer, and Teresa Hansen are three of the twelve contestants in the running for the title of the Strawberry Day Queen. The pageant will be held Saturday, March 30, at Pleasant Grove High School. Ellen Lloyd Ellen Lloyd is the daughter of Malcolm Braidley and Shirley Lloyd. Ellen is currently a senior at Pleasant Grove High School. She will be among the graduates for 1985. She will then further her education at Utah Technical College and on to Oregon Community College to be a student in their dental program. Ellen has had eight years of piano training and has had several opportunities playing for organizations and performing in various concerts. Ellen has also won several awards for her talent in the field of composing her own music. She has been involved in the field of theatre and has involved herself in the productions at the Alhambra Theater in Pleasant Grove. Outside of Ellen's ambition with her education in school, she enjoys the extra-curricular activities that are offered. She is a member of the Acappella and Chamber Choirs. She is serving as historian for the Acappella Choir. Ellen is serving on the Pleasant Grove Seminary Student Council. Outside of school activities she enjoys sewing her own clothes. Needlepoint and craft work are among her interests. In her spare time she enjoys jigsaw puzzles, art work, and reading good books. Ellen's ambition in life is to educate herself in the field of a Dental Hygenist. Karen Harmer Karen Harmer is the daughter of Jay and Carol Harmer. She is a 1983 graduate of Pleasant Grove . High School. Karen is now attending Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She is majoring in Elementary Education and a minor in music with vocal emphasis. Karen's talents are many. She has had voice lessons, piano and flute. In high school Karen was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students and received Superior ratings as a vocal solo in state competitions. Karen was involved in Drill Team and served as Pep Club Vice-President. Vice-President. She was a member of FHA, Youth City Council Seminary Council and Acapella and Chamber Choirs. As a student at Utah State she is not only furthering her education, but she involves herself in other areas. She is a member of Lamda Delta Sigma Sorority. Karen sings with the USU Choral, Chamber Singers and the Madrigals. For Karen's abilities she received a voice scholarship. Another love of Karen's is 4-H Forestry. She was one of six national winners, along with accomplishments in the county. Karen enjoys the out of doors and in her spare time she skis, jogs and loves to go hiking and fishing. Karen plans to achieve her goal of graduating in education and excel in the area of singing. Teresa Hansen Teresa Hansen is the daughter of Gary and Nancy Hansen.
