Show Timp Cave 'hibernates' for the winter season The Timpanogos Cave system and the l'2 mile cave trail at Timpanogos Tim-panogos Cave National Monument closed for the winter on Nov. 2. When the snow melts and the weather permits the caves will reopen next May. During the winter months the monument's visitor center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The visitor center houses museum exhibits on the discovery of the caves, geology of American Fork Canyon and a special exhibit entitled "American Photographers and the National Parks." The visitor center also contains a 12-minute slide presentation about the park and surrounding Uinta National Forest. Information on winter sports activities, ac-tivities, ski areas and other National Park Service areas will als be available. Park rangers will be available to present programs to schools and other groups during the winter.
