Show Oops! Trencher makes new doorway A Mt. Hell trencher that went out of control last Tuesday and hit a house at 250 N. 1400' East in Pleasant Grove gouged a gaping hole in the side of the structure. The home is owned by Gregory Wilder. Allen Lee Alispach, Springville, driver of the trencher said he was driving the trencher around the Wilder property on a sharp incline when the vehicle popped out of gear and he couldn't get it to go back into gear. He tried turning off the engine and restarting to get it into gear and that didn't work either. By this time the trencher had picked up considerable speed, and the brakes then failed. When he realized he could not stop the trencher he released his safety belt and jumped to safety before it struck the house. Damage to the house was set at $5,000. No one was injured. None of the Wilder family was at home at the time of the accident. Mr. Alispach escaped without injury. Officer Mike Blackhurst investigated the accident. |
