Show Hospice slates Edwards & Young Steve Young has accepted the role of honorary chairperson for the "Light Up a Life" Christmas tree event to benefit Hospice of Utah County. The tree lighting ceremony highlighted by a keynote speech from Lavell Edwards is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. in the Provo City Council Chambers. The Hospice tree, which will be lit by former BYU quarterback, Steve Young, will be located on the northeast nor-theast corner of the Provo Center from Nov. 29 through Jan. 1. A tax-deductible gift of $10 will light a bulb on the massive, live Hospice tree in memory of a loved one who has died or in honor of a living friend. The first Hospice program in the United States was established in 1971 and now there are dver 1200 nationwide. Since its inception in 1983, Hospice of Utah County has helped over 500 patients and family members living in Utah County deal with the fear and loneliness that have too often been associated with the dying experience. Volunteers have donated over 4500 hours of service making over 1500 home visits. Hospice emphasizes pain and symptom control so ill people can live their last days as fully and comfortably as possible in their own homes, surrounded by family and friends.
