"There has been more early volunteering this year in the Sur : tor-Santa program than ever ', Ibefore," according to Bill Hulter-Jstrom, Hulter-Jstrom, Director of United Way's , Volunteer Center. This has allowed committees to begin early to organize and plan details to insure another successful effort in making sure children in the community do not go without a joyous Christmas. Families who need Sub-for-Santa kelp should call 377-5119 as soon as possible so specific processes can begin. Families who wish to sponsor families in need, or people who can , work on committees andor can take incoming phone calls, should call 374-8108 from now until the week of Christmas. Volunteers are especially needed toman the telephones from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, from Nov. 26 to Christmastime. (Students from BYU have volunteered volun-teered to cover the phones from now until Nov. 26). , There is some flexibility for ; volunteers - they may choose specific hours and dates they can ttork - even one shift per week, or ! three times a week, or one hour, , etc. These times must be scheduled "head so that the phones will be . covered at all times, i ; Since several weeks' time is in- Volved, officials say there is a need t l many volunteers from the I communtiy who can make them-I them-I selves available to take incoming I, calls. !
