Schub appears with Utah Symphony the Chase Fine Arts Center at Utah State University in Logdan at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The Utah Symphony will be performing the Mozart Symphony No. 33 in B flat, K.319 for the first time at these concerts. It was one of the last symphonies Mozart wrote in Salzburg and was completed in 1779. The Piano Concerto No. 3 by Bela Bartok was completed in 1945 just months prior to the composer's death. Cesar Franck's Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra was written in 1885, during a period that marked his return to pianistic composition and witnessed completion com-pletion of his Prelude, Chorale and Fugue (1884) and Prelude, Aria and Finale for Solo Piano (1886-87). The Seventh Symphony is Sibelius' last work in this form and this will be the Utah Symphony's first performance of this work. It was completed in March, 1924. Joseph Silverstein, Music Director of the Utah Symphony, is internationally acclaimed as both a conductor and a violinist. He served as assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony from 1971 until this season and was also concert master of the orchestra as well as music director of its chamber group, the Boston Chamber Players. Andre-Michel Schub has performed per-formed with the symphonies of New York, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas and many others. He has performed in Japan and Australia, as well as in Europe. Born in France, the 31-year-old The Utah Symphony will take its music on the road to Logan and Ogden before giving two 8 p.m. performances at Symphony Hall on Nov. 16-17. Joseph Silverstein will conduct the orchestra and Andre-Michel Schub, winner of the 1981 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will be soloist. The symphony will perform Mozart's Symphony No. 33 in B. flat, K.319 and the Symphony No. 7, Op. 105 by Sibelius. Mr. Schub will join the orchestra for Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Franck's Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra. The symphony will give the same programs' at the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14; and at Guest pianist Andre-Michel Schub is featured symphony soloist New Yorker came to the United States with his family when he was eight months old and began studying piano at age four with his mother.
