Hair, nail care salon opens By CINDY LLOYD Headway Designs has opened this week at 61 East State Road in " Pleasant Grove, and will be offering the latest in hair and nail care and designs. Headway Designs is a family business run by Marie Colledge and her daughter, Gina Coates. Marie and Gina plan on bringing a lot of (heir former clientel from Erma's House of Beauty in American Fork. Marie's mother, Erma Sorenson Condor, had operated the shop for the past 30 years and is now retired. Marie has been styling hair for 12 years and Gina has been in the business for three. Both Marie and Gina have studied in California with top hair designer, Peter Hantz, and learned the most progressive styling techniques, including a new technique for restricturing hair. Gina said hair restructuring is similar to a permanent but not as curly as large rollers are used to give the hair a permanent set for easy care and styling. Hair restructuring is also in demand for fine hair as it helps prevent breakage and hair grows stronger. Headway Designs also offers new cutting techniques and permanents which are all organic and safe enough to drink. (Although Gina added they may not be too tasty.) The organic products are from the Peter Hantz line and are sold at Headway Designs along with curling irons, combs and other top name products. Sherrie Jolley is their nail specialist and offers solar nails which are cross-bonde- d so as to be stronger. Sherrie said the solar nails won't turn yellow and only need to be filled once a j month. Decals and bolted charms are also available for nails in .varying price ranges. ' r" '' Headway Designs is openMonday through Saturday from 9 a(m. to 5 p.m., although these hours may be changed to accomodate customers. Marie and Gina want to cater to men as well as women and may stay open late one night a week for the working men. Marie and Gina wanted to open their new business in Pleasant Grove because they once lived here and like the community and the people in it and hope they will support Headway Designs. All work done at Headway Designs is fully guaranteed. A grand opening will be held soon and an open house is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 28, when Marie would like people to come and view the new facilities and ask any questions about the new business. Refreshments will be served. From now throughout the grand opening, special prices will be o-ffered on their hair designs and a .complete set of mails i will. for only $15, compared to usual prices ranging from $30 to $40. Hair Designs has a warm and relaxed atmosphere and Gina and Marie feel they have a lot to offer the Pleasant Grove community, and are very glad to be here. Real estate seminar planned Buying real estate with no down payment and no credit is an en-ticing dream. But, what are the risks? Is it legal? What is the responsibility of a real estate licensee? The state of Utah has been deluged recently with seminars . .teaching techniques for closing a no downno credit transaction. The Utah State's Division of Real Estate and Division of Consumer Protection are sponsoring seminars in three locations for the purpose of telling the "rest of the story" to the consumer and the real estate licensee. The seminars will be free, and will feature attorney David R. Olsen, legal counsel of the Utah Association of Realtors, from the law firm of Suitter, Axland, Arm-strong and Hanson. The local seminar will be held in Provo on November 27, 1984 at the Excelsior Hotel at p.m. It is imperative for the consumer andor the licensee to be fully in-formed before becoming involved in such a transaction. Remember, the money you save may be your own. For information call the Division of Real Estate at 7 or the Division of Consumer Protection at Utah Consumer Protection Dept. gives warnings During the past six months Consumer Protection has been investigating Wide America Telecom Systems Inc. WATS, a Utah Corporation. Wide American Telecom Systems Inc. is in the business of selling and installing long distance telephone services in Utah as well as throughout the United States. In-formation received by the Division indicates there are more than 25,000 customers in at least 13 states who have paid $25 to $150 each for long distance service. WATS also provides a business opportunity to consumers who purchase a franchise and become an affiliatepartner of WATS. At least 34 franchises have been sold throughout the United States. Cost of these franchises range from i. $140,000 to $500,000. The Division has received ap-proximately 200 complaints from consumers who have not received the long distance telephone services as represented from independent marketing agents who have not received commissions as represented, and from affiliates who have not received equipment to operate the service. On Nov. 14, 1984 the Division of Consumer Protection issued a Cease and Desist Order to Wide America Telecom Systems Inc., Bill L. Means and the parent company of WATS, West America Energy Inc., Boyd L. Jentzch for failing to file the proper business opportunity disclosure papers. On Nov. 16, 1984 the Division of Consumer Protection filed in Third District Court two (2) class actions alleging violations of the Consumer Sales Practices Act.
