Third Ward to celebrate 75th birthday Pleasant Grove, Utah Timpanogos Stake Third Ward will celebrate its 75th Birthday with a Ward Reunion on Saturday, Aug. Any present or past ward members are cordially invited to participate in an evening of renewing friendship, food, games, program. The first original structure actually had its beginning as a two and a half story school in 1893. But it was on Sunday, May 9, that the building was rented from the school district to start holding v v Sunday school, in 1929-3- 0 it was remodeled into a nice chapel. Lunch and tours of the building will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. along with outside activities. At 7 o'clock a program will be held and at 8:30 p.m. a parking lot dance will conclude the evening's events. s ft ( 1 I a ! iL Ji Ronald Joe Zeidner Jeffrey D. Smith Heidi Hicks Missionary farewells, homecomings planned Ronald Joe Zeidner Ronald Joe Zeidner, son of Ron and Janie Zeidner, will be honored at a missionary farewell Sunday, Aug 19. at 9 - e Pleasant Grove Fourtheenth Ward, Pleasant Grove East Stake Center, 825 S. Loader Ave. Joe has been called to serve in the Kobe, Japan IDS Mission. He will enter' the Missionary Training i Center on Sept 13. j Joe is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS i Seminary. He served in student government and on the Seminary ' Council. He was a member of the A Cappella Choir and the National Honor Society. He attended Utah Technical College during his senior year of high school. During the past year he has attended Florida Junior College in Jacksonville, Fla. He has been studying general education. He is an Eagle Scout and has received the Duty to God Award. Joe has served as an officer in the Aaronic Priesthood quorums in his wards. Joe currently resides in Orange Park, Florida. This summer he has been working as a counselor at BYU's Especially For Youth program. All . friends and relatives are invited to his farewell. Jeffrey D. Smith Elder Jeffrey D. Smith, son of David and Sharon Smith, has recently returned home after serving an LDS mission to the Columbia, Bogota area. A missionary homecoming will be held Aug. 19 at 10:45 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Seventh Ward Chapel, 1250 E. 200 South. All of his friends and relatives are invited to his homecoming and to hear his report. Heidi Hicks Sister Heidi Hicks has recently returned from the Alabama Birmingham Mission. Her homecoming will be this Sunday, August 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 N. 100 West. Sister- Hicks has seen great growth in the missionary work in Alabama, and is excited to tell of her experiences there. She invites all family, friends and associates to come. Senior Citizen picnic slated The annual Senior Citizen Picnic will be held Aug. 31, at 5 p.m. at the Battlecreek Park in Pleasant Grove, according to Ruth Hassenfritz, director. A native of American Fork, he graduated from American Fork High School and received a scholarship from Utah Technical College. He attended two semesters there in x-r- ay technician classes. From 1976 to 1977, he worked for American Fork City at the water treatment plant. While there he completed a course in water treatment at Utah Technical College at Salt Lake. Prior to that, he "pumped gas" for ' Walker's Mobil. From 1974 to 1976 he served "two hard but very productive years" on an LDS Mission on the Isle of Ireland. He and his wife, the former Annette Adams of Lindon, are the parents of four daughters Tom says he has been a member of the ; ; --y , American Fork Fire Department for the past four years and enjoys serving the community in this capacity. ; He is also active in sports, especially basketball, fishing and hunting. School will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on Mondays. School will t start earlier and close later the other four days of the week to make up the lost time. An open house will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, from 7 to 8 p.m. so parents, teachers and students can get acquainted. New student registration will be on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Kindergarten students will come half their scheduled times for the first two days of school. School lunch will be served on the 28th. School lunch prices will be 75 cents for elementary students and $1.35 for adults. |
