Show spotlight - Thursday, November 10, 1983 - Page 1 U County's Q ( On Entertainment ' ' J Local actors join with BYU to produce original play in SpanishEnglish The local drama community will join with Brigham Young University to present an English and Spanish version of Alejandro Cason's "LA Barca Sin Pescador," or "The Boat without a Fisher-man." The play will be produced in the original Spanish by BYU students, and in an English translation by Dr. Harold K. Moon of BYU's Spanish Department, by community actors including Leslie Jorgensen of American Fork. The Spanish version will run Nov. 16 and 18 at 8 p.m. with a Nov. 19 9:30 a.m. matinee. The English play will be produced Nov. 15 and 19 at 8 p.m. Both productions will be performed in the first floor auditorium of the new Eldon N. Tanner Building on the BYU campus. Dr. Moon is directing the Spanish version and Audra Moss, who has been involved in several community productions, including several at Pleasant Grove's Alhambra Theater, is directing the English version. Mrs. Moss said the program is the story of a Wall Street tycoon on the verge of financial ruin who turns to the devil for help. The Faustian theme has some unusual twists in Casona's treatment, Mrs. Moss said, and deals with strong moral values. There is no charge for admission. Cast members include Jeff Ellison, Provo; Shauna Moss, Orem; Richard Bugg, Provo; Kelly Chalmers, Edgemont; Shauna Weight, Edgemont; David Herbert, Payson; Jim Melton, Santaquin, Craig Dunford, Payson; and Janice Nielsen, Spanish Fork. i jj f 1 " L If! 1, ' , . Foot stompin', fast fiddlin' cowboys will "Raise a Ruckus Tonight" while turn of the century romance burns bright "In the Good Ole Summertime." Backed by a live show-ban- this troupe of performers makes screen and radio personalities come alive, bringing back America's best-love- d "MASH" medics, the shipwrecked crew of "Gilligan's Island" and many more. A puff of smoke and a brush of musical magic will find chimney sweeps dancing to "Step in Time" while Pinnocchio and other animated friends sing a salute to Disney. Internationally popular for more than 13 years, the Young Ambassadors dazzled audiences on their 1983 spring tour to Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii where they performed live for more than 44,000 people and appeared on radio and television programs reaching o million others. While in Australia, the Young Ambassadors performed for audiences in hospitals, prisons, shopping malls, theatres and concert halls, earning the praise of many, including the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Australia who said, "Not only were we impressed by their musical skill and showmanship but all who met them were touched by their youthful exuberance and friendship." In 1984 the Young Ambassadors will tour the Southern States, performing in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. ;i0' GE0RD.1 Mayo. " Dnn, .
