Show Timpanogos Cave closes for season; visitor center open As of November 1, 1983, the cave system and the Vz mile access trail at Timpanogos Cave National Monument was closed for the winter season. The caves will reopen next May as soon as weather permits. During the past summer-season, National Park Rangers guided 4,011 tours through the caves, accomodating 64,977 visitors. These figures represent an increase of over 6,000 visitors compared to 1982. During the winter months the monument's visitor center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays and holidays. The visitor center contains museum exhibits and a 12 minute slide program about the park. Information on nearby winter sports areas and other National Park Service areas will also be available. Park Rangers will be available to present programs to schools and other groups during the winter.
