Show r Pleasant Grove PTA Council turns 'Chemical People' followup to scho At the suggestion of the school principals in Pleasant Grove and Lindon, the followup on "The Chemical People" will be turned over to the individual schools. A television program entitled, "The Chemical People," was shown last week and again last night on the public broadcasting stations, KUED and KBYU. Call in shows followed. In some areas town meetings have also been held to discuss drug and alcohol abuse among the young people. At a meeting of the Pleasant Grove PTA Council last week it was decided to not hold a town meeting, but instead, to let each school hold a followup meeting if they wished. Better participation by the parents was anticipated if it was held on a single school basis. Some principals felt that only parents should be involved, and that st'.iHpnts not be n'"prl "extra information" that they didn't need. Council president Helen Hatch noted that even though Pleasant Grove might not have the problem that is found in larger communities, there is still a drug and alcohol problem among the youth and education needs to be done in some manner. Alice Adamson, who was in charge of the program for the council, noted that she has some literature available for those who would like to use it. Mrs. Hatch also discussed the establishment of mini-commissions by those PTA's who needed them. Some schools had already begun forming the mini-commissions which will review needs and problems of the school.
