There is a slight age difference, Daniel is 13 years old and Paul is now 18 years old. The awards have been held, without presentation, presen-tation, for four months, waiting for Paul to come home from Ricks College to receive his. Daniel received his Eagle Award on March Uth since it was felt he had waited long enoueh. Paul will be receiving his in May when he is at home from Ricks College. The boys belong to Troop 835 of the Pleasant Grove 14th Ward, Pleasant Grove East Stake, and are the sons of John W. and Kathryn R. Phelon. Daniel is in the 8th grade at Pleasant Grove High School. He is very interested in all sports; playing on the Vikings Little League Football team, Angels Pony League Baseball Team, and Little Mountain Grapplers Wrestling Team. He has many medals and trophies at home that tell of his accomplishments. ac-complishments. Daniel already has 35 merit badges and will soon be receiving his palms. Dan served as Den Chief. Dan traveled the western United States last summer with a student tour originating from Granville, Massachusetts. His Eagle Project was a bicycle safety course painted on the parking lot at the Pleasant Grove East Stake Center. Paul is now a freshman fresh-man at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in May 1981. Paul is on the Ricks College Baseball Team and Wrestling Team. While in High School he received many honors. He was chosen Most Outstanding High School Athlete for the High School last year. He was a Captain of the Football Team, a Captain of the Wrestling Team, and a Captain of the baseball team. He has many medals and trophies adorning his room that tell of his accomplishments. He placed 2nd in the State Wrestling Tournament Tour-nament and was on the Slate All-Star 3A team. Paul went to Ft. Collins, Colorado with Explorer Post 835 in 1980 to participate in the Explorer Ex-plorer Olympics. His Basketball Team placed second in the nation, bringing home silver medals. The P.G. Football team went to state in 1981 but lost out in the playoffs. He was recognized last year at a Banquet for Utah's Outstanding Athletes. Paul was on the Honor Roll at the High School. He has worked at Taylor Rental and Renaissance Water- PAUL AND DANIEL PHELON have received their Eagle HatI . ' Pleasant Grove East Stake Court of Honor. bs beds. Paul loves to travel and he has been to more than half of the states in the USA. He is planning to go on a mission later this year. His Eagle Project was a tennis practicing board which he made and installed at the tennis court at Battlecreek Park in Pleasant Grove. Paul has held leadership leader-ship positions as a Deacon, Teacher, and Priest for his church. |
