Show PGMlah Marcella Walker although they have some nice wild songs and dances at the Pageant. But historical buffs might be in favor of the "Con Wagon Affair". This affair is listed for room 303 of the state capital building and the affair is free. You cannot often get a , free affair nowadays. , Sporsters might like the BlOlSnowbasin Annual Town Race. And if you don't think the Strawberry Days Pageant is as important im-portant as Plain City's ' groundbreaking ground-breaking ceremony for a new fire station you are surely mislead. March will close with a production of a British comedy revolving around the trials and tribulations of unsolicited un-solicited pornography. All this and much, much more is being offered to Utahns this month but nowhere did I see any reference at all to the Strawberry Days Queen Pageant which will be held on March 27 in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium. Like I said, if this was a list of all the major events in Utah this month then I would like to know who decided what is major. This weeks hodge-podge: Some new license plates we've come up with are: "Sew-Sew", "Bogey 1", and "Jerry 1". I told my Jerry that if I got him a personalized license plate it vvould now have to read "Jerry 2." He said, "no, it wouldn't because he wasn't taking second place for nobody." . ... , ,. . .. .. The' Utah 'Department of Agriculture (which I didn't even know there was one of) says that Americans pay only 14 percent of their income for food. Other major industrial nations pay for 25 percent to 40 percent of their income for food. Whoever' figured' out that Americans only spend 14 percent of their income on food did not have a teenage son, I'll be willing to bet. Today is Agriculture Day in America so take a farmer out to lunch, as Dan Vallentine, Jr., says. . Each person working on an American farm produces enough food for 78 people in America and abroad. The bounteous harvest allows America's 167,000 grocery stroes and 560,000 restaurants to offer 8,000 different varieties of food products. There, you all should know a little more than you did about Agriculture Day. I went clear through the list of Utah's Major Events for March 1982 and no where did it list the Strawberry Days Queen Pageant. I could not believe it. Surely there must be a mistake somewhere if this event is not listed. Maybe there is an interpretation problem here of what is major and what isn't.' Personally, I think it is as good as the Snow Fun Safari on the Heber Creeper, or it would at least hold a candle to the exhibit of paintings, drawings and photography by personnel per-sonnel from the Salt Lake In-. In-. ternational Airport. Or how about the Wedding Festival '82 with host Bert Parks; and I like this one, Bill Mason Film Festival features "Path of the Paddle Series" which are four films designed to address paddling a canoe. . Do you really think that it takes a series of four films to discuss paddling pad-dling a canoe? I heard that it was dip and back, dip and back in a nice rhythm and if you paddled on just one side you would eventually go around - in circles. Maybe the film deals with small circles and big circles. If music is your bag maybe you would rather see the Ogden Wild Band perform than go to the Pageant |
