Show The Funny ESone By Mary Coons I I've observed something about Christmas this year that 1 haven't really caught on to before. It's coming before Thansgiving. The parade scheduled in Salt Lake this Saturday has brought some in-teresling in-teresling comments from residents up there that I snickered at this morning. The interviewer on the radio asked people what they thought of the Christmas para lie scheduled for downtown Salt Lake. They all were mad because they said that we should be allowed to celebrate Thanksgiving first, and then move into the Christmas season. One lady even said I hat if we don't watch out, we'll be celebrating Christmas after Easter. Interestingly enough, guess what these people were doing when the interviewer stopped them . . . Christmas shopping in one of the malls! Shame on us, not the retailers. We want to gel all of our "Christmas done" in October. We work all year long for December 25lh. Okay, I understand that many women that get it done early will really enjoy their Christmas season better if they get the work out of the way. But, are we teaching our children to buy instead of celebrate the meaning of the season? Don't ask me. I like to gel things along through the year, and store them until our celebration of the event in Bethlehem. i' But, I wonder if We aUn volved in the giving an;so so i, season, that we realize whe "g 01 'he we are spending an equal 7 time teaching our cErlUnl exemplary life that of lk , world. tame nto I suppose that we all are Dhn one extent or the other Pia holiday is both fun andsa sf",ng'0r I would only interjec ng we need to teach one another .h he same thoughtful preoan' rU t kindness and peace that culture of ours theorelica I close to its bosom. hollH Giving thanks overa roasts, for family, friends and cg is a good way for us tos hrt ik anpe for a life that in one has touched many of us. anolh Maybe our greatest pres , be to g,ve our families a ti TUls ' selves this holiday season Ur ' -alents with yo your generosity not only in' ' fueling way, but in the R J ,i , time and compassion y Hopefully, this will bring us h lo Christmas and its tru m know that I've got a lot of TSj be ore the season comes upIn uV l I don't mean in the giving and o J department!
