Show Joan McKay, Hospital Employe of the Month Joan McKay, a Certified Registered Nurse Anethetist, at the American Fork Hospital, is hospital employee of the month for November. Mrs. McKay is described by coworkers co-workers as being "modest about her help to others, but gives much, living life to its fullest." She worked at Utah Valley Hospital as an anesthetist for 10 years prior to coming to American Fork Hospital. A native of Pocatello, Idaho, she grew up in Lincoln, Idaho, six miles north of Idaho Falls. Following graduation from high school, she started nurses training at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls. She has worked in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Moscow, Idaho; Sail Lake and in Denver, Colorado. She completed Anesthesia School at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She married her husband, Gordon, in 1951. It was after he underwent unsuccessful open heart surgery lhat she decided to go to Anesthesia School.
