Show Bantam League Registration to Start Next Week Those boys who are planning on playing Bantam Basketball during the 1978-79 season will need to register at either the Pleasant Grove City Recreation Office between bet-ween 3-5 p.m. or at Tryouts at the following times: (pre-registration (pre-registration is encouraged). en-couraged). Tryouts 7th and 8th grade boys, Tuesday November 14, 5:30 p.m. in the Jr. High School Boys Gym, the fee will be $8.00. It should be noted that expansion of the league will take place this year so that every 7th and 8th grade boy who wants to be on a team, will be assigned to one. If for some unavoidable reason you cannot attend tryouts, it is necessary that you pre-register, as no boy will be assigned to a team following the completion of tryouts. Tryouts for the 6th grade boys will Wednesday Wed-nesday November 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Jr. High School. The fee of $8.00 should not be paid until said boy is selected for one of the teams. Parents and boys should make special note regarding the following information. 6th grade will be a transitional year for the boys. 6th grade boys will be used to fill the Bantam Rosters up to a 12 player limit. Teams will be organized so each team will have a minimal number of 8th graders, with 7th grade boys being equally distributed between teams. The rosters will then be completed by coaches selected the number of 6th graders as per the number of openings he has on his team. The playing time will be organized that the younger boys will have opportunity for playing time during regular play. Several options are currently being considered, with final approval being made when all teams and coaches are selected and organized. Parents and boys should understand that a 6th grade boy who would like to try out for Bantam basketball may or may not be selected, if he is assigned to a Bantam team he will still be eligible to play with his home-room 6th grade team in the elementary program. Every effort will be made to arrange schedules so he can participate on both levels of play. In as much as this is a transitional year, it is impossible to say how many openings there will be for 6th grade boys. If a boy has the desire to tryout, we as leaders and coaches encourage en-courage him to do so. Elementary boys Basketball 4th thru 6th grades will be held on Saturday November 25, additional information will be handed out through the schools for this program. |
