Show 4- ' Family Talent Winners Are From PL Grove Utah Valley Family Month officially of-ficially commenced with the Family Talent Festival at the University Mall in Orem last Saturday. First, second and third place trophies were awarded awar-ded to the winning families of the talent sweepstakes. "The judges had a difficult dicision in awarding the trophies because ot the large number of excellent family performances," said Lee Nelson, Chairman of Family Fun Week. The Jarnagin family of Pleasant Grove won first place, five members of the family (Paul Jr., James, Richard, Nita, and Nancy) provided a lot of variety as they sang several songs. The Thompson family of Orem placed second, Joey, Terri and Danny performed excellent vocals and were more ot a modern group. The DuBois family of American Fork won third. "Eight members of the family participated and the youngest performing member of the family, 2 year old Malinda, sang a vocal selection that was very well done," Nelson said. Three non-competing groups also performed that sparked the afternoon's after-noon's activities BYU Young Ambassadors, Am-bassadors, The Knudson Brothers and The Brunson Burners. There were six performance times, the first being at 1 1 a.m. and the final one ending at 4:30 p.m. "J. This was the first year the Committee Commit-tee of Utah Valley Family Month has sponsored a family sweepstakes competition at the Mall featuring local talent. "The performers made the day a great success," the Chairman said. "There is a tremendous amount of talent in Utah Valley, and we hope to be able to continue bringing talented families that perform together into the public view." |
