Identical menus were served to every Utah student this week. School Lunch Week Brings Special Meal to All Schools in State of Utah "You Are What You Eat" has been the slogan of National Nation-al School Lunch Week which has 'been observed this past week across the country. Students Stu-dents have been urged to think nutrition as well as taste in the meals they have eaten. Wednesday, students thru-out thru-out the nation had identical menus in school lunch cafeterias cafeter-ias in honor of Universal Menu Day. On this year's menu was a submarine sandwich, French fries, green beans, a fruit cocktail cock-tail cup, a chocolate chip cookie and milk. This menu is typical of a "type A" lunch served each day at schools participating in the National School Lunch program. pro-gram. These lunches provide one-third of the recommended dietary allowances for each student, and include food from each of the four food groups. The lunch offers a balance of needed vitamins and mineral, and supplies the correct number num-ber of calories needed for each of the age groups that school lunch serves. Over 180,000 students in the Utah schools participated in the school lunch program during dur-ing this week. |
