Show a Beethoven, Strauss in March! 7-1 9 subscription concerts some three years, with a completion date of 1798. A delightful composition, it bears traces of the influence of Mozart and Haydn. "Ein Heldenleben" is the last of Richard Strauss' three tone poems, composed in 1898. Its six uninterrupted sections depict a hero, beset by adversaries and ultimately ultimat-ely surmounting all obstacles to build a Detter world. The family of the late Lewis M. Jones, a devoted supporter of the arts in the Salt Lake community and the State of Utah for 15 years, is sponsoring the March 18 and 19 performances in his memory. Tickets for the subscription subscript-ion concerts are available at the Utah Symphony box office in Symphony Hall and the Ogden Symphony-Ballet Association office in the Eccles Community Arts Center. Beethoven's Piano Concerto Con-certo No. 1 and "Ein Heldenleben'! by Strauss, masterworks which hold place among the favorites of instrumental repretoire, will provide the program when the Utah Symphony subscription subscri-ption series continues on March 17 to 19. Varujan Kojian will conduct, with Ken Noda at the keyboard for the Beethoven Concerto. The Thursday performance perfor-mance will take place in the Val A. Browning Center in Ogden. On Friday and Saturday, the orchestra will perform in Symphony Hall. All concerts will begin at 8 p.m.., . At the age of 19, Ken Noda has already appeared in North America with the orchestras of Baltimore, Chicago, Ch-icago, New York, Minnesota, St. Louis, Montreal and Toronto. He has also soloed abroad with the Berlin, Israel and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, Or-chestras, the English Chamber Cha-mber Orchestra, the Orch-estre Orch-estre de Paris and the London Symphony. The impressive list of conductors with whom he has collaborated collabor-ated includes Abbado, Bar-enboim, Bar-enboim, Comissiona, Levine, Mehta, Skrowaczewski, Zu-kerman Zu-kerman and Kubelik. In a recent nationally televise! White House appearance, .e performed with violinist Itz-hak Itz-hak Perlman. He is currently a student of Daniel Baren-boim Baren-boim and Rudolf Firkusny at the Juilliard School of Music.
