Show August 21, 1985 Dear Park City School District' Patron: The Park City School District is appreciative to the Park Record for preparing this educational supplement. It provides needed information A for the district, parents, students and residents of Park City. Quality education requires a partnership of school and home. The ( t -r 'v National Commission on Excellence in Education, in an open letter to ;. ) ' V-V' the American people, stressed the following: To Parents: "You have the right for your children the best our schools can provide. " ; But your right to a proper education for your children carries a responsibility... to participate actively in your child's education." "Encourage a more diligent study and discourage satisfaction with mediocrity and the attitude that says 'let it slide'; monitor your child's study; encourage good study habits; encourage curiosity, creativity and confidence; and be an active participant in the work of the schools. Above all, exhibit a commitment to continued learning in your life. When the home itself is a learning area, going to school becomes an exciting and enjoyable adventure for children." To Students: "You forfeit your chance for life at its fullest when you withhold your best effort in learning. When you give only the minimum to learning, learn-ing, you receive only the minimum in return. Even with your parents' best example and your teachers' best efforts, in the end, it is your work that determines how much and how well you learn. V The members of the Board of Education serve to represent you, the public, as we establish school policy and provide leadership and direction to the school system. We value your input and encourage your involvement in the PTA, school community councils, and at Board meetings. This is your school system. These are your schools.
