Show Car 19: A New Wave in Park City dining by CHRISTOPHER SMART Record staff writer Main Street's Car 19 restaurant is open under a new management, featuring regional recipes and what the owners describe as America's New Wave food. Parkites Kevin Galvin and Peter Leonard have teamed to reopen Car 19, pooling their 15 years of experience in the restaurant business. busi-ness. Leonard brings his cooking skills to Main Street following a four-year stint at Deer Valley's Cafe Mariposa. Car 19 has been open under new management just about two weeks now and "is selling itself," says Galvin. He describes it as American New Wave, allowing the patrons to mix and match menu items to meet individual taste. The menu is geared so that patrons may eat lightly for under $10 or can choose from a menu of full entrees, Leonard explained. Menu items are designed to encourage experimentation, allowing orders of different combinations of pastas, pizzas and salads. Delicacies include Leonard's own Chicken Provolone ($9.50), which blends the sharpness of imported provolone cheese with the flavor of pine nuts and sun-dried tomatoes. One of the regional delights on the new Car 19 bill of fare is Cajun Prime Rib ($12.95). Leonard said he stole this recipe from the king of the Cajun chiefs, Paul Prudhomme of New Orleans. Maitre d' Galvin says the new Car 19 is fast and economical for those in a hurry. But the zesty entrees can be enjoyed in a relaxed dining atmosphere. Car 19 is at 438 Main St. |
