Show Funny 'Farley Family' to open in Salt Lake A prize-winning comedy, "The Farley Family Reunion" by James Arrington, will return for an encore "! run Sept. 5 at the Little Bowery at the Promised Valley Playhouse in Salt Lake City. "Farley," a comedy about the events and people at a typical family reunion, was the first play produced in the IDS Summer Theatre Festival presented at the little Bowery last summer. It was a sell-out success that played to standing-room-only crowds. The theater management and the playwright decided to stage the show again. This year "Farley" was chosen as the first Utah entry in the Festival of American Community Theatres regional re-gional contest held in Helena, Mont, and recently was mentioned in the - Utah Holiday magazine "Best and " Worst'' (August) issue as "Best ? Local : Production Based on Local Color." The article cautioned theater patrons to "take some aspirin for the side-ache produced by too much laughter." Arrington, known as a writer, producer, director and actor, has included 13 characters ranging from a 6-year-old poet to a 99-year-old patriarch in the play. He is noted for his roles in "Here's Brother Brigham" and "J. Golden," which he also wrote and produced. The show will run Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through Sept. 28. Tickets, at $5, are available at the box office, 364-5677. |
