Show 'Sp' ChU Cflnait j lf by Ilea Hummer Winning Parkites bring home ribbons There were many blue ribbon winners from Park City at the Summit County Fair. Several were mentioned in the paper last week. There are some very special ones who were not mentioned, such as Hazel Gunderson, who entered some of her beautiful paintings and received sweepstakes on two. Ida Nunnerviller entered several afghans, baby shawls, etc., receiving blue ribbons on all and also a plate for the best in 1985 for crocheting. Ida is one of our senior citizens who spends many hours making beautiful crocheted items from toys, pot holders, doilies and baby items to afghans and much more. Kat James also took a blue ribbon for her beautiful afghan. Congratulations to all who entered this year. May there be twice as many next year. ' Monday is Labor Day, and as always the annual Womans Athenaeum Athen-aeum flower show and bake sale will be held. The Athenaeum gave seeds to fourth-grade students in the spring. Some of them have really excelled and we will be able to see the results as an added feature to the show. . Everyone is urged to enter and show off their favorite house and garden plants as well as dried arrangements. We urge all to bring them to the Memorial Building by 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3 or contact Nan McPolin or Bea Kummer. I will list a few of the fourth-grade students who have done a fine job and will show the results in the junior division of the flower show: Chris Lockey, Matt Thompson, Alex Lavenger, Jared' Covington, Jay Neukom, Amy Alexander, Brian Dar, Julie Glad, Benjie Kahn and Mindy Larson. Athenaeum members are reminded remind-ed to bring their baked goods and flowers also. |
