Show Howard Jones, Emmylou Harris scheduled for ParkWest appearances . . . Artists who try something different differ-ent rarely bridge the gap to commercial acceptance but Howard Jones has been an exception. Jones' first album for Elektra, "Human's Lib," went platinum in Britain and spawned top singles in the United States. For his new album, "Dream Into Action," and concert tour Howard has teamed with Trevor Morais on drums and Howard's brother, Martin, on bass. These additions have expanded Jones' sound, and this is no more evident than on the album's leadoff track, "Things Can Only Get Better." Howard Jones' talent is becoming more and more evident, and many well-respected rockers have taken notice. United Concerts, KCGL, PM Magazine Utah and Pepsi will present Jones at ParkWest in the first show of the summer concert series on Monday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. If America's heartland music is more in your line, Emmylou Harris will be at ParkWest June 22. Harris' gift is to tell a story through music and with her latest album, "The Ballad of Sally Rose," she presents an ambitious, fully-realized fully-realized song cycle, a tale of lost love and found, and a collection of original songs that stand, together and separately, as modem country classics. She'll perform at Parkwest on Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m. with special guest star David Allan Coe. Tickets for both United Concerts shows are $13.25 in advance, $15.25 the day of show at all Datatix outlets and at ParkWest. |
