Show Public to view new fi rehouse Saturday The new fire station in Summit Park will be dedicated Saturday. The $160,000 station and its new $195,000 telesquirt fire truck were paid for by the 1984 fire bond, said Park City Fire Chief Jim Berry. He added the public is invited to an open house at the new facility, which is located on Maple Drive in Summit Park, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The three-bay station will house a Mack pumper that produces 1,500 gallons per minute a 3,000-gallon tanker, a 1,000-gallon-per-minute four-wheel-drive pumper and a one-ton rescue vehicle, Berry said. The prefabricated building was constructed by Utah Systems builders build-ers and includes offices, a kitchen and a lounge. Berry said there are also plans to expand the station into a full-time facility with sleeping quarters. The open house will include a demonstration of the Jaws of Life rescue device and tours of the station. "We have 13 volunteers who live right here in Summit Park. It is a good crew," Berry said. Volunteer Fireman Ron Chamberlain Chamber-lain has been appointed assistant chief in charge of the new station, he added. |
