' suspect pleads not guilty by CHRISTOPHER SMART Record staff writer The father of the man charged by a Summit County grand jury with the August murder of an airline pilot here pleaded not guilty last week in Coalville's Third District Court to charges that he conspired with his son to distribute cocaine. Patrick Mitchell, 46, Berryville, Ark. entered the plea at his arraignment May 23. He was indicted by the grand jury on two , feiony drug counWeaiHertttir k month. His trial has been scheduled ' for Aug. 6.' According to the indictment, Mitchell conspired with his son, Preston Mitchell, 26, Miami, Fla., to distribute cocaine. Rirther the grand jury charges that the senior Mitchell did in fact distribute cocaine. Patrick Mitchell was apprehended by FBI agents in Arkansas. He waived extradition proceedings. The younger Mitchell, however, remains at large. A federal warrant has been issued on Preston Mitchell for "unlawful flight to avoid prosecution." The grand jury brought four 'felony indictments against the younger Mitchell, including a first degree murder charge in connection with the Aug. 4 death of 44-year-old Fred Duncan. Duncan was at the Woodside Avenue residence of Bryan Oliver at the time of his death. He was killed by a single gunshot to the head with a large caliber handgun, according -to "Park City Police Chief "Frank Bell" Duncan was with an unidentified Miami woman at the time he was killed. Named as an unindicted co-conspirator with the Mitchell's is Greg Oliver, the son of Bryan Oliver. According to the grand jury document, Oliver conspired with the Mitchells to distribute cocaine. The indictment against the Mitchells Mit-chells states that the younger Mitchell distributed cocaine to Oliver and had the senior Mitchell collect the money owing from the purchase. |
