Show Linda Singer Named Acting Principal In its first meeting of the new year, the Board of Education took care of a good number of housekeeping chores and elected new officers. Its first item of business was to administer the oath of office to board members Rand Clark and Eugene Lambert. Gary Avis was then elected to serve as board president for the next two years and Rand Clark was elected to serve as vice president. Nancy McComb was thanked by the board for her service as its president) for the past two years. Turning its attention to the vacancy created by the resignation of the Parley's Park Elementary school principal, prin-cipal, the board considered four applicants to fill the position on an interim basis until the end of the term. Its choice was Linda Singer, who is currently the special education teacher at Parley's Park. Singer has served before as administrative assistant to the principal and will now assume all the duties as principal until June. In the meantime, the board directed Superintendent Superinten-dent Richard Goodworth to continue advertising for a permanent principal. The board then discussed two pending property transactions trans-actions and instructed its attorney to draw up appropriate appro-priate documents to insure the conclusion of the contracts. con-tracts. Pete Alvarez appeared before the board and asked if it would be interested in a joint venture to turn the old middle school into low to moderate priced housing. The board expressed its interest and asked for more specifics at a future meeting. The board concluded its meeting with a brief review of its food service and capital outlay budgets. The meeting was adjourned at approximately approxi-mately 11 p.m. |
