Show Officials Sworn In Two new Summit County Commissioners and all other elected county officials were sworn into office Tuesday during brief ceremonies at the courthouse in Coalville. Holdover commissioner Gerald Young of Oakley administered the oaths because be-cause he was the only county official with any authority. Term of office for all other officers expired at midnight Dec. 31. Since newly elected fire district commissioner Jim White could not legally be - sworn in by Young, the oath was given to Park City Justice Jim Kilby, who later enpowered White. In addition to the swearing in, commissioners spent the morning dividing up specific areas of responsibility. Gerald Ger-ald Young was elected to chair the three member Board of Summit County Commissioners and also to sit on the Mountainlands steering committee. Young will also spearhead the Summit County Fair Board as well as direct engineering and garbage services. Ron Perry the newly elected commissioner from Summit Park will oversee the county Planning Commission and all courthouse offices including the county sheriffs department. Perry will also sit on the Summit County Travel Council. Cliff Blonquist, the freshman fresh-man commissioner from Coalville will oversee county health services and the abatement of noxious weeds. Each commissioner will oversee road maintenance in their own respective areas. Hoytsville resident Bob Williams was also sworn in and hard at work his new post of county treasurer. Summit County Clerk Reed Pace said he is very optimistic about the newly elected officers and feels they will be "good to work with." |
